The Rites of the Church

The rites of the Church include Morning and Evening Prayer, Holy Communion, Baptism, Confirmation of Baptism, Prayer for the Sick, etc.  These Divine sevices are taken from the Bible and The 1928 Book of Common Prayer, which organizes Scripture into a worshipful liturgy, or ceremony.

  • A typical service begins with a scriptural reading calling us to worship.  In a general confession, we pray for forgiveness of sins that we have committed by thought, word, or deed.
  • We sing or responsively read Psalms.
  • We read from the Bible, both the Old Testament and the New Testament.  We listen to the preaching of the authentic Word based on the Scripture reading of the day.
  • We sing doctrinal hymns of prayer, praise, and thanksgiving.  We read and recite the Ten Commandments given to Moses.  We read and recite the two Commandments of Love given by Our Lord.
  • We pray for the Whole State of Christ's Church, which incorporates all believing Christians without regard to demonination.  We pray for all ministers of the Word.  We pray for Christian congregations and the well being of the nation including its leadership.  We pray that all in lawful authority may be guided by the Holy Spirit.
  • In conclusion, we pray the Prayer of General Thanksgiving and receive the blessing of the Church.
